are looking towards the first stop on the line towards Birkenhead and Liverpool. The first station is Hoylake, an affluent residential area with international standard golf course. The Merseyrail system, as in so many large urban areas, was almost Jekyll and Hyde in character, passing through almost extremes of economic well-being or, sadly, the opposite.
