LPPC DSL CO 00010013-Edit
An end of platform view at Southport, on a particularly unpleasant day in the 1970s. As can be seen, two routes split away from each other immediately beyond the end of the platforms and the Class 503 emus stabled in the centre are adjacent to the Wirral and Southport coast lines of the Liverpool electric Mersey suburban system. To the right then is the line to Liverpool, next stop Birkdale for the famous Royal Birkdale Golf Course and to the left the line leads sharply round to Meols Cop, Burscough and Wigan.
