EE TYPE 3 CLASS 37

The Class 37 Diesel Locomotive, also known as the English Electric Type 3, was built at the Vulcan Foundry, Newton-le-Willows, in a Co-Co configuration. They were built to undertake both freight and passenger work across all BR sectors. They proved to be very reliable and after later overhaul many survived in service across the BR network into the 1990s. A number of the class have been preserved.
