British Diesel & Electrics

This collection includes photographs of Diesels and Electrics on British Rail, from the 1950s right through to the present day.

The Gallery is split into pre-TOPS (mainly taken up to 1973) and post-TOPS (taken after 1973/1974). The images are further split into Class of Locomotives, and for this we have chosen to split them by their post-TOPS class definitions, e.g. Class 40s or Class 86s for locomotives, and Class 105s for DMUs.

Given the numerous types of shunters we have grouped these together into one collection.
